WHAT IS CRAFTWORK?

What is CraftWork?

CraftWork is a new kind of coworking - smaller, more local, and deeply connected to the community’s vibe and values. Based in Healdsburg, we’re surrounded by wine, entertainment, and incredible food - right in the heart of wine country.

Our Mission

At CraftWork, our mission is to create an inspired workspace that nurtures community, fosters collaboration, and helps diversify and strengthen the local Healdsburg economy.

How it started, and how it’s going - A Story from Our Founder

Like any small venture, CraftWork began with an idea, an image, and a purpose. The spark came from a three-day tour of Detroit I led in 2017, where we witnessed a vibrant rebirth of the local economy, driven by coworking, makers, and urban manufacturing. I left inspired and motivated, thinking, “We could bring this energy to Healdsburg.”

The image was inspired by a mash-up of three beloved Healdsburg spaces: the Hotel Healdsburg lobby, with its timeless, sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere; Flying Goat Coffee, once the heart of downtown work and life; and the Banshee Tasting Room, with its funky, eclectic furnishings and intimate vibe. The purpose was to create a space where people could come together to explore ideas, launch new ventures, and support one another as they grow. Our goal is to strengthen the local economy while fostering community conversations that encourage experimentation, spark curiosity, and embrace growth as a positive force we can shape together.

Over the next five years, I visited more than 15 cities, leading a self-selecting group of developers and public officials in search of one question: How have communities emerged from the recession stronger, more vibrant, and more attractive to entrepreneurs? Each city had its own story, but one thing was always the same - the presence of a place where small companies, the self-employed, startups, or new ideas could gather. Work. Share. Grow.

During those same five years, I left my house each morning for coffee and conversation. As I walked past what would one day become CraftWork, I could see past its dated façade to the raw material every successful coworking space shares - what the industry calls “brick and timber creative space.” We simply call it great bones. Behind the worn carpet and questionable color choices, I could see the DNA of something special, waiting for a second chance. And so, the journey to CraftWork began.

Why we need CraftWork

Since opening, I hear every day how important CraftWork has become to the local community. Young parents who need a place to focus and step away from home for remote work. Entrepreneurs are seeking like-minded people to grow new ideas. Anyone who struggles to concentrate at the kitchen table or in a coffee shop. Being surrounded by others who are “doing” - actively creating and getting things done - is inspiring and motivating in itself.

And then there’s the Hub effect. When we started CraftWork, we wanted it to be more than just a workplace. We wanted the community to see it as their living room - a space where civic groups can meet, people can celebrate milestones, and productive conversations can flourish. A place to explore our town, reflect on its changes, and connect over what it truly means to live here.

Do you want to be part of this story?  Join us as we redefine the meaning of Work, by re-engaging the passion of Craft. Right here in Healdsburg.

A great, affordable place to work. Everything is well maintained and very well organized. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, and always available to help with anything we need. This is our workspace away from the city, and we definitely recommend it!
